Mr. Bonniwell has been associated with the newspaper since its founding in 1996. He assumed the position as publisher of the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle in 2002 and is the managing member of the owner of the newspaper – Cherry Creek Trail, LLC. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with an honors degree in history and received a doctorate in law from the University of Colorado where he was an editor of the University of Colorado Law Review and was awarded a Master in Taxation from the University of Denver. He has served as the senior advisor to the historic mining town of Central City and is the official historian for the City of Glendale. He received critical acclaim for his latest book The History of The Denver Country Club: 1887 – 2006 and is working on a book on the history of Glendale. He is a founding member of the Greater Glendale Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of directors of the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame as well as the Glendale YMCA.

Glen brings more than 30 years of experience as a writer and editor. He has served as the editor and/or publisher of several local and national publications including Denver Magazine, Denver Business Magazine, Sign Business Magazine, Western Wear & Equipment Retailer and Crow Publications. Food, music, theatre and art are the passionate pleasures of the Valley Gadfly – the column he has penned for the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle for more than three years. So whether you eat to live or live for music, theatre and art, you couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to call home. Life in the Valley lies at the intersection of these activities, he declares.
Mark W. Smiley has been the Executive Editor since September, 2013. Mark has 16 years of executive level experience. He most recently served as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for a seniors organization. He currently volunteers as the Chairman of the Good News Breakfast Coalition. In the past, he has served on the Board of Regents for the US Chamber of Commerce’s West Institute for Organization Management, County of San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board, US Chamber of Commerce Aviation Steering Committee, and the Friends of the LA/Ontario International Airport.
Mark is the former President of Sundance Public Relations, Mayor of the city of Glendale, Colorado, Executive Director and co-founder of the Greater Glendale Chamber of Commerce, and President/CEO of the Ontario California Chamber of Commerce. Mark Smiley was the seventh mayor in the 61 year history of Glendale. A native of Chicago, Smiley graduated from Saint Xavier University with a B.A. in Mass Communication in 1994 and also holds a masters degree in Communication Studies from Governors State University in Chicago. He and his wife were married in Beaver Creek, Colorado 9 years ago and have a beautiful daughter.
John Edwards is the Colorado Golfer editor and publisher and is President of the Golf Travel Writers of America and the Rocky Mountain Golf Writers Association, and he heads the Colorado Golf Resort Association.
During 21 years of publishing the state golf newspaper, he has also been President of the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame. He has received the Colorado Golf Association Golf Writer/Publicist of the Year three times plus the Colorado Section PGA and Colorado Open journalism awards.
John is a member of Golf Writers Association of America and is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. He also is a travel consultant.
Phil Kummer has been Vice President of Sales since January 2011. Mr. Kummer has over 30 years of sales and marketing experience and prior to working for GCCC he did executive sales for a Fortune 500 company. He graduated from the University of Colorado- Denver in 1993 with a MS in Marketing. He also holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire.
Mr. Kummer has been involved with numerous business and community groups including the Win/Win Business Forum, the Associated General Contractors and the Colorado Mountain Club. He served over three years on the board of his HOA but it is unclear what he did to deserve a sentence that severe.
Mr. Kummer has climbed thirty three of Colorado’s 14ers and rafted most of the worthwhile river segments in Colorado.
Megan is a freelance writer for the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle. She comes from San Marcos, Texas, where she studied electronic media at Texas State University. Megan is an adventurer at heart – whether she’s scuba diving, training for marathons and half marathons, skydiving or exploring Denver, she’s always up for the challenge.
